After a Yamhill County crash: the first 72 hours
Steps that protect your health and your claim before you ever call an insurer.
What you do in the first three days after a crash can quietly decide what your case is worth months later. Insurance companies build their files immediately. The best thing you can do is the same.
Hour 0–24: Health and documentation
- Get medical care, even if you feel okay: adrenaline masks injury.
- Photograph every angle of every vehicle and the scene.
- Save the responding officer's name and case number.
- Write down what happened while it's fresh.
Hour 24–72: Don't volunteer to the adjuster
The other driver's insurer will call. They will be friendly. They will ask for a recorded statement. Decline politely and get advice first, anything you say is being used to evaluate your claim.
When to call a lawyer
If anyone was injured beyond minor bruising, if liability is being disputed, or if the insurer is pushing fast. That's the moment. The consultation is free and there's no obligation.
